Experience

I was a Tutor for the Ace It! program within Sylvan Learning. I served as a mentor at California Universtiy of Pennsylvania. I am a published poet and critical reviewer. I completed the College of Education with a 3.6 GPA as well as the Honors Program at my university, which involved research and presentation of undergraduate thesis work. In addition, I have attended several regional and national conferences at which I presented research in paper and poster formats and served as a panel member. In college, I was required to take as many English-related credits as secondary education credits, resulting in a large knowledge base of entertainment writing, research writing, grammar, linguistics, historical and experimental literature, and critical theory. As one may imagine, reading and organizing information were also a large part of accomplishing a concentration in the subject of English. During my student teaching experience at Mount Pleasant High School, I created a blueprint for the cirriculum of Speech and Presentation in my home classroom, which I began teaching independently within two weeks. I'd like to be a tutor because I have enjoyed tutoring in the past, and educating is my passion. The most rewarding aspect of tutoring is seeing the moment in which a student comes to a new uderstanding of what was before only information on a page but has recently transformed into a unique and useful tool for that student.
